I have owned bluebirds since 1987. 1.8 gs fantastic car, stolen in 1996 with only 50,000 on clock. Had about 10 second hand bluebirds since that but i am now the owner of the best one in the country. F529 LAP 2lt hatch with only 35 k on clock. Mint cond-. you could eat your dinner off the engine its so clean. This car stood in a garage dry stored for 12 years and now its mine. Shame to take it on the road. Must be the best bluebird left in the country. Can anyone beat this.
Very reliable, hatch like a van, smooth & quiet, comfertable, economic, easy to maintain.

2lt gsx
Owned for more than 5 years.
I have owned two of these cars now down to just one.
Apart from a weak 1.6 gearbox in my last one they can't be faulted. Simple to work on, amazing attention to detail in their build quality and totally reliable. I've bought several much more modern cars to replace it and then prompty sold them as they've never ever been close. Now I have went from top to bottom on my remaining one so it's better than factory fresh, can't see me ever replacing it, I just enjoy it too much.
40 years from now I'll still be driving it :o)
Everything
you have to be kidding, yet to see a better car

1.8 auto, 42k better than new condition

Nissan Bluebird, 1984, Diesel is an excellent car. It's still in perfect running condition, still an eye-turner in Sri Lanka. Very economical on fuel (more than 23 km/l on average!!!). Still starts at the first turn of the key.
Grat on fuel economy, still looks young, reliable
should visit several spare-part dealers to find some parts

My 1990 G reg 1.8LX Bluebird has finally died after 5 years of faithfull service.
MOT failure for new screen, front exhuast section and welding near the rear suspension means I can get something newer and better for the price of the MOT!
Still a brilliant and relaible car for anyone looking for something cheap and (almost) indestructible. Performace is not great but once it's at 70mph it stays there with good economy.
Power steering and electric everything is also a bonus, only my powered sunroof started leaking soon after I got her (fixed by gaffa tape of course), and someone handily broke off my electric ariel (fixed with a coathanger).
I've done 70,000 miles in it (135,000 total) and have only had the following problems.
1 new radiator and thermostat 2 new radiator hoses (old ones perished when old rad came out) New wiper motor New exhaust Bad at starting in the damp (prob new HT leads or plugs needed)
Love the Bluebirds, had a few in my time and currently own a T72 2.0 Exec. Off the road at the moment due to not being able to get time to work on her.Hopefully during the summer months this will change. I am the owner of the Nissan Bluebird Owners Club (UK). and started the website at the end of Jan 05, please take a look and become part of it. http://nissanbluebird.co.uk
hi i bought my bluebird last yearfor £130.00 its a g reg saloon put it through its mot passed ok with no probs six weeks later head gasket went due to a cracked head got a new head for forty quid done two thousand miles head gasket went again exactly the same place found that one of the waterways was blocked causing a hot spot (wish i had spotted that wifey wasnt pleased) so it was time to do it again its all rebuilt now and running but when the gasket blew there was so much smoke coming out you could not see for miles. as it has taken me two weeks to do as i had got the head skimmed. so all the water and oil that was sitting in the exhaust decided that it wanted to come out so it was still smoking quite a lot but is getting better im going to give it an engine flush new oil filter and oil this weekend i have owned many cars over the years and have never bought the same car twice but this one i like if it gives me to much trouble engine wise i will get a new engine as i like this car very much when i saw this car advertised i thought it was a hatchback im not keen on hatchbacks but i saw this saloon and liked it there are loads of them where i live but i think the saloon looks better mine also cuts out when its only been run a short time this is due to carb icing its a common problem with nissan carbs and the auto choke is a laugh. its not fast only 1600cc but its comfortable and easy to drive done london and back a few times good on fuel and big enough for me the wife and brood (three big lads) its i bit basic inside i like that because i like to improve and add things myself if your round my way and see a red bluebird with a tasmanian devil strapped between to spotlights on the front grill give us a wave
My T72 Bluebird Turbo is finally beginning to wear out but it's topped 200,000 miles so it's had a goob innings. I've enjoyed owning it so much I'm after another one now and will be performing the same mods I did on my current one to release a few extra ponies :o)

I own a 1986 T72 chassis 2.0 SLX, one of the first to be built in Sunderland - so it's more like a T12... Purchased it as the 3rd owner in 1993 for £2595 with 55k on the clock. It now has over 200k miles on the clock and it still start first time everytime (of how I laugh at the Vauxhall owners in the street!)
I've replaced a fair number of parts on it over the years: new starter, radiator, thermostats, engine stabiliser mounts, rear shocks (previous owner was a shed dragger!). But it owes me nothing - not when I did 30k miles in one year and it was ready for the M25 every day!
It has an annoying habit of stalling in the cold - I blame the naff low octane, decaffinated fuel they push on us nowadays. Autochokes are always a pain. Anyone got a 2.0i GSX manual Exec they don't want??
I've modified many parts - relays to switch the headlights off when you switch to accessories; it once sported air horns, fog and spot lights. All important CB radio with the wiring hidden behind the dash.
Feeling very sorry for itself these days. The pattern parts are rusty and I can't afford to replace them.
Still capable of 115, as the Saxo that tried to keep up with me on the M2 will testify!

Nissan Bluebird 2Ltr Diesel 1986 D reg. (proud Lady owner) Bought for 2K in '92. Only major layouts have been for 1 radiator, two windscreen (2nd due to bad fitter the first time) and tyres. Had to replace the hatchback hinges once too. Now looking forward to it's 18th birthday and just had the gearbox refurbed and a new clutch (thought I'd better give it a treat after all these years of faithfull service). Starts first time, every time, even in really freezing weather. Ticks over between 700 and 750 revs, (never set it higher for good fuel efficiency). Did a 444 mile round trip on 10 gallon of diesel a couple of years back (44.4 MPG!!!) Passes it's MOT every year with an oil change and filters and a good wash. Last August, passed diesel emmisions test on a 0.4 result!!!(that's ZERO point four!!!) If you have one, get it steam cleaned underneath and in the engine once the bad weather stops and paint all vulnerable parts (e.g. brake pipes, joints and bolts) with your old engine oil that you replace once or twice a year to protect them from the elements. Owes me nothing coz its done 160k miles now and I will keep it till it has to go to the big scrapyard in the sky, when I'll give it a good send-off, altho' I'm looking forward to road tax free years when it's a classic, I hope!
i currently own a 1985 bluebird and had the ca-20 in it. it soon got ripped out and i dropped the L20b in this isnt any engine but this one runs 11-1compression on prem fuel and octane boost.goes pretty hard beats v6 commodores. But isnt enough,so i recently got a hold of a ca-18det with a high flowed turbo upgrade comp and a little internal work.If anyone can give some info on how easy it is too install give me a yell.p.s old engine currently for sale.it has flattop pistons, twinsu carbs, pacemaker extractors polished and ported head shaved head bigger rods and more too mention, give me a yell tell me about your bluebirds.
My Dad Bought a 1991 Bluebird 1.6 LX brand from the dealer. I then bought it off him in 1998 with 220,000 miles on the clock I have just Got rid of it with 330,000 miles on the clock ALL on the orignal engine and gearbox and it has never let me down. I now have a 1991 Bluebird Executive 2.0i Auto with leather seats and air-con current mileage 165,000 and still going! if anyone knows of any owners clubs in east anglia please let me know
Hello there. My Bluebird 1.6 has been doing excellent service for years and it`s only got 150k on the clock too, but it has developed an annoying fault now Autumn is coming in. When cold it has a tendency for the engine to die about 2 mins after starting. Basically it starts perfectly every time, but if you are driving round town and stop at the lights, it just gives up unless you keep some throttle on it. It restarts ok and when fully warm it never misses a beat. Is there anything in the choke mechanism that might cause a purely cold weather fault like this? Cheers Jon
My Bluebird has been in our family for 9 years now. It is a D reg import from Japan. Model 2.0 SGX. Everything is electric and the velour interior is still as new, it even has heated seats. The outside has a little surface rust, but the areas have not grown any bigger as time goes on.
The outside is two tone in colour. The top half is metallic gold or bronze if you like and the bottom half metallic silver.
It has been the most reliable car I have owned so far. The oil and water levels have never ever droped in the whole 9 years we have owned this car, nothing short of amazing I say.
But now is a sad time, as I am having to sell my bluebird to buy a smaller car. Even worse it looks like I am going to get almost nothing for it, maybe £200 if I am lucky! Anyone interested?
I have 1990 Bluebird 1.8 turbo SGX... everything is electric... at least almoust everything... My car is nice to drive.... but now I was wondering if anyone has any sites for that car (mail me) and other thing is missing too... I have CA18ET engine with TwinSpark, but I can only use 4 spark plugs, cause I'm missing this thing that gives the elec to 8 sparks... it is made for 4 spark.... and I was wondering that if someone has that system too could help me a bit and mail me... thanks
I ran a 1989 Bluebird 1.8GS from June 1998 to March 1999. In that time I took the mileage from 82,000 to 100,000. The car was totally reliable once some niggling faults (due to uncaring past owners) had been put right. Lots of electrical toys, cheap insurance, easy to drive. What more can I say? It cost me £1,600 and I sold it for £1,325, it was the easiest car I've ever owned to sell (so far)! All those minicab drivers know a good car when they see one!
The nissan bluebird is such an underrated car, if you have the turbo model, it has the same engine as the nissan sylvia, making the tuning possibilities sooo high! try approx 800bhp!!! it takes a lil homework to get all the mods, bodykits e.t.c. but if u do the maths, it ends up being one of the most tuneable cars ever made, almost 5 times more tuneable than a nissan skyline
