bought one a couple of years ago and kept for a year.
performance is stunning, very very fast for the money, comfort is good and fairing offers good protection too, so great motorway blaster!!!
economy is excellent for performance offered but other running costs are high so make sure does not need much doing for mot as the costs can outweigh the cost of the bike.
plastics are rare these days so check these too when buying as they can be brittle because of age, but other than that i dont think there is a cheaper and more bullet proof way of going extremely fast indeed!!!!
I've had my zx10 for 10 years now and it has NEVER broken down on me. With the carbs de-restricted, it will pull to redline in top gear and the acceleration is spectacular. Handling is stable but takes a bit of work through the twisties. Build quality is excellent and the motor bullet-proof. I have toured all round Europe with a pillion using panniers and a tank bag and cruised at 100mph on motorways. Comfort is good also. Fuel economy around the 50 mpg mark when not being hammered. The only criticism that I have is that it HATES cross winds, especially 2-up. I have had some scary moments in strong gusts. The fairing has huge slab sides and thick spokes on the wheels, combined with a bulky tail section, the wind catches the bodywork like a sail. Classic insurance makes this bike a cheap option for those looking for high performance on a budget.
A cheap way of going very fast.The handling can be challenging when hustling it through bends But in a straight line it will stay with a Blade.Mine cost me £800 and all I've done is fitted a ZZR 1100 rear wheel for better tyre choice.
