Had the bike from new for about three months. It handles very well and it's very solid in the bends. I want it to turn in quicker but for a big bike it does turn in quite quickly already and if you lean it it will go over quite readily and you'll be scraping boots and things with no trouble.
Always starts on the first button press, very comfortable, great high riding position and it has good road presence. It could do with better luggage options and 'other' exhausts are pretty expensive. Other than that, it's a great bike.
Have only had the bike a month but find it great fun. I was going to buy an FZ1 Faser but rckon I would loose my licence within a week and when I rode the TDM I liked it better. The TDM is fast enough and I love the engine vibes. It handles like a sportsbike compared to my old (1998) XJ900 Diversion and I really like the 6th gear which I use as an overdrive. The fuel injection can be a bit jerky if sitting on 3000 rpm but it feels at home between 4 and 6 k to me, Yes the styling is ugly and I think thats the reason the do not sell (in Australia that is). Wish yamaha would come out with some optional luggage though
Owned for 1 month.
