I have Renault megane 1.6 2004 model. I really loved the car when I first purchased it as I think its a lovely looking car, but its turned out to be one of the worst cars Ive ever had.
bought megane coupe phase 1 2.0 16v test drove before buying and was surprised how nippy it was and how well it drove in general, starts on the button every time runs great good on fuel for its size had mk1 19 16v before and liked that as well, bit dear for parts as its french but so far well pleased if loooking for used parts try http://www.cit-ren.co.uk as thier stuffs well priced and warranted.
Bought a Megane cabriolet fitted it up with some 17" alloys. It looks astounding and drives like its on rails. On the downside as its a cabriolet it does suffer a little from scuttle shake and the rear visibility is limited. But roll on Summer!!!!!
I baught a 97 Megane and for the first month it ran like a dream but now you just look at it funny and it starts giving trouble. This is starting to break my spirit.
Just got a new (03) Megane Turbo Diesel! The toys are excellent, and the standard kit is pretty incredible, too! Don't accept what I say, just go and get one!!
is there any like minded megane owners who love their motors.i got a phase 1 2.0 16v and i think its the d bees.

luv the looks and handling of this car (1.6 Coupe 1996). Also economical too. But main problem was engine idling/stalling - seems sorted now thanks to article at Marcdowie.com.

My Mark I Megane has been nothing but a disaster! I've had it 18 months and I've spent over 1500 quid on keeping it running. It's lovely when it does work, but that's not very often... I think I've been lumbered with a Friday Afternoon car...
