My first car was a red 1992 Nissan Sunny 1.4Lx Saloon. I handed over £675 for the keys and ownership, and I didn't expect alot of car for my money. It was just something that was to 'do' for a year or so till I could get something better. It lasted me 2 years before I changed it, and its new owner is more than chuffed with his remarkable buy. But, on my first REAL test drive, I realised there was something very unique about this little red car. It handled well, it accelerated of the mark and stopped almost as quick. When I got it back home and lifted the hood, I was amazed to find that distinctive badge..... "Twin Cam 16v" Right across the top of the engine. Engraved with pride. This car, for its age and price, was a very, very nippy little motor. I've beat quite a few performance cars (BMW's etc) on the open road in my Sunny, though, some of that may be down to simple good driving! ;) For a convenient and practical car, the Sunny does extremely well for its age. Having fully adjustable steering made fitting my 6ft 3in into the drivers seat a breeze. Doing Christmas shopping?! Don't worry about running out of space! The Sunny always took everything you could put in it. In fact, we moved house in 3 or 4 short trips!! (obviously using a van for the BIGGER stuff (beds, fridges etc)!) I can't recommend this car enough. Especially as a first car. Quite economical for its age, and very cheap to maintain with an absolute mountain of spares available nationwide. I've now got a Vauxhall Calibra 2.0i 8v.. and you know what? I still miss my Sunny! :p |
