Breathtaking! Its that good. Purchased a 1991 3.5 315hp edition. Its the ultimate saloon which offers sheer driving involvement. Owned mine for 2 years now and have covered 18k and the total is now 120k. Still sweet as a nut. Running these cars takes time, patience and most importantly money! It can at times be tempremental. New parts on mine include suspension all around, brakes, tyres, clutch etc.. which has not been cheap! Buy a bad one... then you better start re-mortgaging the house! There are a lot of dogs out there so be aware, sure they will be fast but there will be problem after problem. Overall the M5 is a true drivers car which i have found hard to match. The 0-60 time of 6.0secs may be matched by modern sports cars but the M5 will not be touched on the autobahns throughout europe. It starts to open up at 100mph. 150mph is the fastest i have been and it wanted more, could have gone on to see the far side of 170mph in my opinion. Not for the faint hearted. ps full service history and understanding wives ESSENTIAL.
Awesome car. I have a 1993 3.8 which has now covered over 150K. The only things to let me down in 2 years (40K miles)have been the water pump and starter motor. A bit pricey for BMW service and parts but worth it. It will hit the rev limiter in fifth with the speed limiter cable disconnected. This was showing 180mph on the needle and the average speed reset to show 166mph. My total spend looking after this has been £15K on top of £7k purchase so not cheap but its an M5..... If you have to ask what it does to the gallon you can't afford to run one.... but about 15-18mpg average.
This car is simplt stunning in every aspect. I purchased my e34 in 1991 when it was brand new.It has covered just 100k and is still breathtaking.60 comes about in just 6 second while it will go onto 175mph but is limited to 155.I have had my m5 to 150mph and is sweet as a nut. This car is the ultimat machine a ferrari with 4 doors so the familly can come too.
