I've owned my Seamaster 925 for 7 years now and could not be more pleased with her performance both under sail and power. I fitted a new Yanmar 21 horse to replace the 12 Hp Penta that she had from new. The difference is plain the Volvo would make 5.5 knots at 2500 rpm weather permitting I had her down to 1.5 knots against heavy sea but with yanmar capable of 3800 rpm and three bladed prop instead of two shell do 5.5 knots at 2100 rpm and only burn 1.1 litres per hour. There's also plenty of power in reserve if conditions dictate (over powered?? not if you need it!!). The odd throttle up to clear her throat and she starts to climb out of the water, hull speed tops at 6.8 knots according to GPS. She's a pretty dry boat (spray wise) due to the sharp entry and flair running to tumble home amidships, no heavy stopping when running off a big one. Very comfortable under sail with a massive roller Genoa 346 sq ft on a 40 ft mast and a main of 154 sq ft on a hard tack with 15 knot wind she'll reach over 6 knots at about 15 deg heal probably due to her displacement of 3.5 tons, broad reach and down are very comfortable and virtually upright. Balance on the tiller is neutral in most conditions unless overdriven upwind. She's not to good at keeping her mark in lighter winds though, but give her a good blow and she'll make it every time. She's very easy to manoeuvre in to her marina berth (1100 rpm equates to 3 knots) although she is a bitch going astern with no steering capable 'till about 2 knots then watch that tiller react severely if not attended sufficiently. The accommodation is set up to sleep 7 but WOW! Sardines comes to mind 4 is comfortable enough both below and in the cockpit any more would be cramped to say the least. I use the pilot berth port side aft for dinghy store and sail store, starboard top berth for microwave, TV, laptop & etc.
Great sea boat and single hander with autohelm
going astern, heads access if rotund

The Seamaster 925 is a very stable, fast and good to handle boat. Despite her age, she is still competitive in regattas. her accomodation might be a bit cramped compared to modern 'Comfort Containers' but considering the current prices good value for money. The Seamaster 925 is built very ruggedly and proves to be a reliable ship in bad weather.

I owned this boat 1 year a go.It is a good boat, solid, and very fast but her accomodation is not that good!!my seamaster 925 only has a v berth and the sofa which turns into a bed.only 4 people would sleep not more!
Great deal! Now that most of them are in their twenties, they're great boats for comparably little money. We did not have ONE major damage in twentyfive years and still belong to the best on our weekly races. It's fast, cosy and gives us a feeling of safety and comfort.
We own Sea Holly, a Seamaster 29, whcih is a slightly updated version of the 925. She is really well built, solid and well finished.
She sails at least as well as simliar boats and handles well. Accomadation is spacious although saloon berths are a bit short. We have real confidence in her.
very stable boat, handles well (very well), very good value for money, (mine was anyway). recommend them to all.
Owned for 6 months.

Handling good on all points, well balanced and sea kindly. she sits in the water (not on top like so many high volume boats). Coach built interior;only grp insert is the heads. accomodation a little tight but with a U shaped dinette and settee opposite plus coffin berth it would be. Pretty tumblholme shaped hull gives her a great looking counter. one of the best 'fast cruisers' of the era and very well priced.
