We have owned two Esterel folding caravans, a 1989 and then a 1998 (the last year that they were made?). We thought that the newer van build quality was not as good as the earlier model. Having said that, we had damp problems in the floors of both and the wood began to rot. Despite the damp we really enjoyed our ownership of both. Knowing that spares would become more difficult to find we looked for alternatives. The only one that we could find was Gobur a British built folding caravan made in Norfolk much more expensive than the Esterels but in our view worth every penny!. We now own one. The build quality we cannot fault and the customer service from Gobur is second to none.
I have had an esterel 1985 for about two years and its lovely. Does anyone know where I can get a front window from as our was cracked last year. Cheers
on my second Esterel, this one has a internal bathroom, brilliant to tow easy to put up less than 5 minutes including bathroom. 1992 model just upgrading to cassette toilet and hot water system, great van
easy to tow
can only buy up to year 2000 then stopped production
Reviewing a 1992 model.

We recently bought a 1982 Esterel folding caravan, 3 berth, for a bargain price. It was very dirty and needed a good scrub inside and a bit of DIY, but it is absolutely great. Can recommend to anyone thinking of getting one - just do it, you will fall in love!
Compact, light to tow, really easy and fast to erect and close down, bags of room inside, looks very retro and nice.
1987 model. Owned for 10 years, not the prettiest van by any means but the easiest van to tow there is. the spare wheel is a special one with a larger centre hole so hard to get i would imagine. Iv'e just bought a motorhome but i'm loath to sell it, as the prices are just going up & up, i can get quadruple what i paid for it ten years ago & a new one is around £13000 so im told.

We have a 39U America built 1989 which we bought new in 1990. It had been the best thing we have ever bought. We have had numerous holidays in the UK and Europe and it has been brilliant. They are ideal for touring fereign parts and ours has been over most of the Alpine passes between Austria, Switzerland France and Italy without any trouble We have tried to replace it with something newer but have never found anything quite as good. I think we will be past it long before the Esterel.
