I owned a 91 T/spark LE and loved it from the day i test-drove it till i parted company with her in 2000. 103,000 miles with no engine problems at all. Blindingly quick and surprisingly economical (30- 35mpg). unfortunately the rest of the car couldnt keep up and nearly bankrupt me in maintenance bills (£6800 in 7 years!) The 2nd gearbox going was the last straw. Other work needed on it financially wrote her off. if you own one have fun while you can. If your looking to buy one please note they're lethal on wet tarmac!!!!!
I had a 75 3.0 for a year or so: During that year I did 35,000 miles in it, and loved pretty nearly every last minute. Kendal to the North Circular in 3 hours: London > Cardiff > Swansea > Exeter > London (over 600 miles!) in a day, with 45 minute stops in each town.
Three of my five top favourite drives ever were in that car. Not only is it trivially able to exceed 100mph on most motorway slip-roads; not only does it sit in curves like a go-kart; not only will it snake up a welsh valley like a demon: but it is also damned near invisible. People don't see the 75.
Mine was fire engine red: 3.0 plain with dark blue interior. I was told by the genuises at Alfaman that the British spec 3.0's were 'redirected' italian police cars, and I could well believe that.
Lots to go wrong, though: gearbox mounts are the worst, and you have to take the exhausts off to fix them, and the exhausts are fragile. Adjusting the rear disk brakes to get them working again is a regular chore, and requires a ramp or pit. Lots of warning lamps light up without any purpose, and spares from specialist breakers (Alfaman again!) are very rare, because msot 75's in scrapyards have been dis-assembled by a tree.
Even though I spent more on that car in maintenence than on any other car I ever owned, I'd have one again.
Oh Bummer, My trusty stead is dead, the mother of all powerslides went horribly wrong and turned into the mother of all fishtales. My guilt is complete, I nailed my twinspark into a lampost. 10 years, 130000 miles of enjoyable, reliable and economic motoring. Oh well, it went out in the style it was driven, hard, it just makes you, lets you, wants to be Driven 'cos its so rewarding but I can't blame the car, I've been getting the back end out on everything since my Raleigh Grifter, so it was bound to happen one day. Shall I buy another? Well, change the oil regularly and the wonderful engine is immortal and needs no maintenance, the gearbox is pants, but you learn to live with it, especially as you can't get to it. The interior is weird, so what. Ground clearance is a bit tight and rear wheel bearings fail every 50k and are a pricey garage job to replace. Handling would be utterly peerless if it turned in a bit sharper, ride OK. 38 Mpg on long runs at 90+. If it weren't for the fact that I'm now after an estate, I'd have another, otherwise, I'd recommend them to anyone else who gets bored driving slowly or driving a normal car. EnjoY!!!
Just purchased an Alfa 75 veloce for £500 from auction.Full MOT what agreat fun car LSD rear wheel drive cant wait untill it rains thats when the fun starts!!
The 75 3 Litre has to be one of the most exciting drivers cars ever produced. A little modification is required to get the best from them. Konis, lowered rear and a liitle negative camber at the front perfectly complements that glorious engine. Treat the car well and it will respond. My car was faultless for over 100,000 miles. Not the prettiest car but a dream to drive.

The 75 3.0 offers about the best bang-for-buck you can get under three grand. In the current market you can get a minter for two grand.
The engine is very flexible, delivers loads of torque and the engine sounds terrific. I've had noisier Alfa engines, but they get a bit wearing on long journeys. They handle brilliantly, very evenly, with no nasty surprises.
The downsides are costly-ish maintenance. You have to watch the propshafts, and due to their relatively sophisticated components, there are few straight-forward jobs. The gearchange is poor, so are the brakes (for the performance) They need uprating.
The position of the throttle pedal can cause ankle ache on long journeys. The interior ain't great, but it is quirky.
You buy this car for its engine, its soul. It sounds like a Ferrari between 4 and 6K. bUY AND ENJOY!
