Had this car ( 2 litre GLX saloon 'V' red Feb 2000 ) for just four months ( since January 2004 ) and I am head over heels in love with it. It is very lively for a big luxury car and is an absolute pleasure to drive. It has wicked good looks and lots of people are not sure what it is! I like this rarity factor. These cars suffer brutal depreciation so if you buy at 3 or 4 years old you get a lot of car for your money. I am a motor mechanic to trade and I cannot find any fault with these cars. The fuel economy is excellent and if you want to throw it about it just begs for more! My next one will be the 2.5 litre model with all the toys on board. I anticipate it to be awesome if the car I have just now is anything to go by.
I normally thrash the living daylights out of my cars and so far the Galant hasn't broken (after 10,000 miles.) Seems to have some interesting technology that makes it speed up if you drive it fast and slow down when you drive it like a grannie, which is good for saving fuel or driving like a psyco. I've changed the head-unit (stereo) (for an up-to-date, higher spec one) but kept the standard speakers which sound fine. Theres a 2.5 litre V6 Twin-Turbo 280bhp 4WD version that I'd like to get my hands on - supposed to do 0-60 mph in "5. something" seconds and 150mph.

Only just got mine and I am in love with it already! It is four years old with 30,000 miles on the clock and was a real bargain. These cars seem to suffer heavy depreciation although I can't understand why. It has wicked good looks, is very powerful/responsive and is a real pleasure to drive. I am going to watch out for an estate version and if can can get one I will keep it forever.

I bought my Galant new in 95, todate have 176,459 on the clock and she has never let me down It is only an 1800GLSI but I have had fantastic service with it and the car still looks good. I am now ready to buy my next Galant - 2.5V6 this time.
I have a '03 24V6 Galant, the overall performance exceeded my expectations and with vertually every cockpit 'toy' included in the price it's well worth the money! As for the design of the new Galant I can not go anywhere without people askin' about it and lets face it when you see the new Galant in your rear view mirrior it doesn't ask you to move over, more like F**K OFF! Well impressive and comparing it to my scooby doo theres not much in it from a basic point of view! Plus I don't think any dealer provided the same service a Mitzi!! Kev-Scotland
On the whole I enjoy this car. It has a great look and the gas mileage is pretty good for a two litre around town. Handling is nimble although rear view is poor for parking. Has some nice extras (Air Con, Cruise Control). Now for the bad part at 80000 Miles I bought this car with full Mitsubishi Service History and in the year I have had it (just over) The following have gone wrong:
1) At about 95/100 mph on the motorway was more than startled! when windscreen trim half came off left side and was fluttering around trying to ruin my paint work which happened within a month of owning the car. Garage made two attempts to fix costing them around £240 just in parts. Parts had to be ordered as well. 2 week wait each time it happened. Garage paid in full (Bless 'em).
2) Brake discs have slight warp only noticeable at high speed. Apparently this can be common and is due to discs not being man enough for the job. I'm told to get better discs when it comes to change out. At low speeds fine. But at hi speeds is tending to wear my tires out quick. (I don't drive like a lunatic).
3) Crank Pulley driving Air Con/Powersteering pump failed damaging Cam belt in the process £420 again waited for parts to be ordered.
4)Clock works when it wants to Some LED's on dash do the same.
5)Cruise Control Switch became intermittent but dismantling and giving a quick clean cured this.
Hope this is has been helpfull. Would by another just to see if I bought a duff one. The V6 model has a lovely engine.
