we bought a 2002 model in sept of last year,and of course looking around for good value for money,all round space,and all mod cons. this is what we bought, with an average 2x2 family , it contains a cooker of normal household size and fridge to match they call it the amara the basic of coachmans c/vans beleive me it would give and does give the middle range of most other popular c/vans a well allrounded equal competitor. when most of the standard eqpt on the amara isnt even present on most other models 'ie' cd player,alloy wheels,bbq point, we have had manny happy times in our amara and look forward to many more..
1997 model with the 5 berth layout including rear bunk over double bed/dinette arrangement and sliding doors to seperate from the main area of the Caravan. This works well for a family with young kids who can be isolated from the hustle and bustle of the galley and lounge area. The van has been assemble well, featuring all mod cons, and none of the fixtures or fittings have caused problems, failed or been difficult to use. Seat fabrics, curtains and general materials have all survived well, although the finishing strips on the eye-level cupboards are starting to seperate from the frame. Apart from the inlet water pipe seperating due to a loose jubillee clip, and flooding the area below the front off-side seat area, no other disasters. The 1997 model features open shelves below the eye-level cupboards, and these are great for storing things whilst static, but empty themselves on the floor when travelling. The 1998 model features doors for these shelves. Externally, the van maintains a high quality of appearance, although a regular clean and polish helps. The quality of the sealing on this particular van although providing a perfectly good seal is of poor appearance, developing a greenish mildew coating. The van tows well, providing the normal rules are applied, particularly for a 5m van.
