I was onwner of a hurley 30/90 for almost 17 year The reason I did bought this yacht , she was roomy and relative cheap[1975] To windward was not her best direction and with stronger winds, you do need your muscles. The cockpit is exellent, only to deep The bunks are to narrow In this roomy cabin, you could design a much more convenient interior. The construction is strong Under the cabin-floor I glassed in a fixed watertank 100l.and a smal opening-heats above the table Overal I do have nice remembrance of the HURLEY 30

A good solid boat, safe and comfortable in all conditions, I agree about the engines the old YSE's are all pretty well worn by now and a new engine will set you back about £5k including installation.

A solid comfortable boat that will look after you and yours in all conditions. Get one with a new engine as the old Yanmar YSE12 are at the end of their lives now. Price from 13k to about 19k

Have now owned "TRUE BLEW" for three years, any boat approaching 30 years old will require some work and replacement of deck fittings. However, the basic structure of my Hurley is in remarkably good condition. The hull is still the original dark blue (glossy)gel coat and the hull is still dry and free from osmosis.
The original engine and offset prop shaft was replaced by a previous owner with a Volvo MD11c with saildrive, this arrangement works very well.
I have replaced the mainsheet and genoa system with Lewmar fittings which are a big improvement on the original.
The interior is dark by modern standards, but I have improved this by fitting opening portlights in the forecabin, heads and above the galley, an additional hatch above the saloon has also made a big improvement to light and ventilation.
The Hurley 30/90 can be a bit heavy to helm when hard pressed, however, replacing the old sails and movng the mast forward approx 30mm improved this last year, this year I will move the mast forward a little more, hopefully this will cure this slight problem.
My wife and I have cruised the west country, France and Channel islands, and this year intend to visit St Malo and have complete faith in our Hurley 30/90.
