Have had a shallow draft 345 for 16 years-has been great for fast family sailing. Unlike many other boats the layout works at sea as well. I have the Owners version which I personally recommend unless you are going to sail with loads of people or race. The heads are Aft and much bigger, as is the forecabin and cockpit locker. You lose an aft cabin though.
Boat has worn very well, with very few breakages, and she still looks very smart. One regret is that I never got around to improving the reefing. The standard system involves going up to the mast to remove slides, attach clew ring to boom etc. A few simple modifications to the mast track would allow reefing from cockpit. A 345, for those who have not seen one before, is nothing like a modern Beneteau. The interior is very traditional, with Teak and vinyl. No high gloss finish or glassfibre anywhere-it looks like a proper yacht!
Very solidly built boat with good performance and acommodation. We've had ours for years, and it's great. It's also just the right size for a family of 4. Easily handled by two adults. I would buy another one!
Owned for 4 years.
