This FK is the second one I've had. The first one was bought for £895, did 18,000 miles, changed the swing arm (£35 from breakers) and consumables. Sold for £850 and the buyer couldn't believe his luck. Bought a Blackbird cos I've always wanted one and yes, it was wonderfull but cost 5 times as much. I've only had this 1000F 3 months with no problem. Paid £900 off ebay I use it every day and do about 1100 miles a month. Must be the best value for money in biking.

I have had this 1991 bike since 2005 and she is absolutely fantastic. Graduated from the VF 750 and wow, what an upgrade! Reliable, safe and dependable and all the boring stuff along with a plastic rocket that takes no prisoners. Rides with either just me or me and my wife and never moans groans or falters, just gets on with the job. She is still fast enough though to make the heart beat and the adrenalin flow, especially when you are slowing down! I have no issues in riding with the '600's' or the big boys either. I have ridden her in the heat, the rain and the snow and I cannot say enough about her other than I wish they were still made new. She will have to be replaced sometime though....the bike that is, not my wife!

Reliable and fast enough.
A little heavy but worth it.

Just come back to motorcycling after a 12 year break and got a 1990 cbr 1000fl as the wife thought it was big enough for us to go touring on.
What a bike solid but slow handling, but when you open her up weyhey, this is what its all about!
The best bike i have ever owned and at £1200 for a 22000 miler i think they are great value, and the insurance isn't bad either.
So if you want a great all rounder that doesn't cost the earth, go's like stonk and attracts the ladies get one!
Happy Riding.......

Stable handling good finish superb power

Will throw you off the back before lifting the front. Would have lost the missus if it wasn't for the gear rack (Note to self: need to remove gear rack). She is heavy though (bike not wife) so slow turns are an issue as I've dropped it once already. Good economy for it's size as well as it'll sit quite happy at 100km all day at about 3000rpm. The factory note is a bit soft for my liking though but it growls quite nicely when you give the throttle a twist. Mines in for my first service too has done 69000 and is still in top condition. (so the mech tells me)

Solid at speed. Can't kill it. Lays down nice for it's size.
Heavy. Acts like a sail in crosswind.

I bought my CBR after I passed my test.....wow....what a fab bike. I have had it just over a year now and it hasnt waivered. I came off it a month ago doing 50mph (dog hit me....ouch!). The bike slid along the road for a while. The handlebars, footpegs etc are all fine. The exhaust took much of the force, but its OK. A small part of the fairing is damaged, but not bad at all. A thoroughly rapid, reliable and tough bike.......I wouldnt change it for the world!

Passed DAS in 2003, bought, a 1991 CBR1000FM, on recommendation from a friend, I was a bit sceptical of this thing, its huge and enormously powerfull for an inexperienced rider. I've dropped it once whilst stationary, (it just caught me off guard, and no real damage done, just a few paint chips on the rubbing strip on the fairing), I am SO PLEASED with it, it is more stable and easier to ride than the GS500E I learned on and you dont have to use all the power, its quite happy to potter about town, but I've found she is happier chewing up the tarmac on the motorways. GIVE IT SOME!!!!

£1420 For a 1994 linked brake model, FSH , 28K, 125 mph fast enough for me, mega comfy, good wind protection and despite its size less susceptable to cross winds than previous bikes i,ve owned.

Brutally quick and fast, not recommended for beginners. Pulls hard above 5K rpm, great powerband. Very well designed and engineered. Honda's are known for bullet proof reliability and this bike is no exception. I do not have anything that I don't like about it. I have owned several street bikes and this is the real sports touring bike! Comfortable enough for long rides and not as rough and unforgiving like the other bikes I have owned. I'll definitely keep this bike. I purchased this European spec bike used with 31K km's fitted with headers, Laser K-1 titanium exhaust canister. Unfortunately, I cannot take her back in USA. I plan on buying another one when I get back to USA, I'll keep her until I have to leave, definitely a bike that I would keep for a long time

I have had two CBR 1000's, the first was an FK new in 1989. Completed 167,000 miles onthat in just under 3 trouble free years before buying an FN new in 1992. I did 147,000 miles on that bike before moving on to the Blackbird of which I am now on my second model.

The CBR 1000 is vastly underated, and even alongside the Blackbird it is a very competent performer. I have been all over Europe without so much as a hint of trouble, the only required change was the exhaust at around 100,000 miles which I changed to a Sebring.

Superb bike, great value for money, oh and by the way my first bike is still on the road with 325,000+ miles on the clock and the engine still hasn't been stripped.

Just bought my FX (private deal) this weekend, have noticed a great deal of vibration through the right handlebar, had a test ride on an FP from a dealer a while ago and noticed the same, is this a common problem?.
So far impressed with everything, looking for a few rideouts (with her in doors) this summer. Any suggustions on resolving this matter, or for tyres please drop me a line.

Found a very clean 1991. 1,900 miles! Summit to do with Bennaton Race colours I think. Anyway, took it to Europe where the space is unbelievable and no need to lok over shoulder for PC Plod! What a machine. 10 days of grrrreat fun. Agree with most current comments. Eats road up really fast. Had 155 on the clock in Germany. No problem apart from my own bottle.

Not rode a bike for 23 years, my son bought a yamaha dt 125, I had a go, felt the feel of the wind and the freedom of the road... took me back down memory lane, like a big kid with a cheesy grin... I want a bike, I want a bike.. so started to look around for one that fitted my budget quite fancied a Honda 750/4 custom as when I was a kid I saw one set of from our street, the sound blew me away, anyway I searched big time but got impatient looking and finally fell for my cbr 1000f. lets just say the last bike I had was a Yam xs 500 used to give it full throttle in all gears without feeling the bike was trying to leave me behind... yep they feel at slow speeds like they want to lay down, manouvering especially when you are my size and weight is kinda scary, I sit on it and let the missus pull me back... seriously though I think it kicks ass big time when you get it going and get used to its little quirks it is such a pleasure to ride... only had the bottle though to take it to one twenty.. urrrrm cam chains need replacing, tried my local Honda dealer... urm never done em before.. esb motorcycles, if a Honda dealer dont wanna know who would, DnK in Leigh, so hopefully my Honda will purrrrr without the rattles... apart from that I Love it to bits... urrm hey I have even had a few chicks give me a smile, or is it cos I am wearing leathers...

Owned and riden bikes since 1969 and this is the best all round bike I have ever owned or had the pleasure to ride. For a heavy bike I don't find it so. It handles superb, brakes are spot on and even when needed in a hurry are very controlled. Comfort is untouchable and it is the only bike where I can ride for hour on end and at the end of the day still want to get back on a ride it some more. I have tried the Blackbird and accept it is more positive in its handling, and slightly quicker to respond but looking at the whole package (comfort and looks) I feel the Blackbird is a step back and that Honda made a big mistake in terminating production. At present I wont be changing mine as there isn't a bike out there that I feel could fill the CBR1000F's shoes. The Rolls Royce of the two wheel world

The 1990 CBR1000F Hurricane, Acura of sportbikes, it fills the gap in sportbike and sport touring, out of the 39 motorcycles I've had this is my favorite.
It is comfortable and smooth, even at triple digit speeds and delivers great touring range.Even after a 500 mile ride fatigue level is low.It has enough power and speed to null the bordem of the endless desert streches of tarmac.I have had 2 1000fs and temp has not exceeded the center of normal on the gauge even in blazing AZ summers. Very confident feel in the hi speed sweepers and on rough surfaces.Reliability second to none and unsurpassed build and finish quality. My CBR is in the 2004 GRIPS motorcycle calendar coming out soon.

The cbr is the best bike that I've owned.I've had it out at the track in anger and it demoralised a gsx-r 750 and was competitive with the >$20,000 bikes, (read imported from Italy). I am about 100kg and have no trouble handling the thing around Eastern Creek, so the previous comments about poor handling might just come down to the rider! give the bike a go,you'll be pleasantly surprised and better off finacially
