I bought my Pioneer Pilot in March 2007, completely stripped her. Anything that could come out came out, Danish Oiled all wood, made new cupboards, washed all foam cushions - re-upholstered everything, made new curtains, put in Eberspacer heating, carpets. Refitted the head. Made cockpit cushions, purpose built spray hood, cockpit cover with windows, lazy jack system, new halyards. Stripped rubbing strip right back, treated with special German teak oil system, re-painted coloured bands. This winter new deck non-slip. I bought her really well and spend every spare minute on her. She sails very well for a motor sailer, handles well also for a bilge keeler. I love her. My two dogs and I cherish our time on her and now she is finished and ready to really start using (I gave myself 18 months to give her a refit). This is a great boat for a someone to handle with experience on their own, even easier if there are two of you, but two dogs don't count. You really cannot go wrong with this boat. The accommodation is great, she handles well. Engine relatively easy to get to and easy to sail. Go for it if you get the chance. Jules
Easy to handle, sails well. Quite well thought out.
The biggest small cruiser you will ever find. A proper yacht when you want it to be . A motor sailor when you want it to be . A holliday home when you want it to be. A1plus for versatility

The pioneer pilot is an excellent boat for those who want to start off in the yachting world. It has all the things a 40 footer has but in just 26ft. It's easy to sail and has a good strong engine when times get hard. A well recomended boat for anyone. This is why there hard to come by.

A good compromise between easy handling, roomy accomodation and adequate performance. Quite strongly built, but the quality of interior finish could be better. It's not difficult for owners to make their own improvements.
