I have a Ford Galaxy 2004 1.9 Tdi Ghia Galaxy. The car has never disappointed me and has been reliable. It returns an average of 41mpg. It tows a 1250Kg caravan (drops to 28mpg) with ease and that is hard to say with the hills in Wales when the car is fully loaded with the family as well.
Good seats. Effortless drive and good mpg.
Soft paintwork (easily scratched). No internal rear cover

1900 130bhp Ghia

I've owned various Galaxies over the last decade and now i'm lucky enough to have a new 2.0tdc1 ghia manual. Completely different car to all the previous ones, after all, this is now designed and built by Ford. The car feels solid, all the way to how the door feels when it closes, to how the car reacts when it's driven, which is a surprisingly comfortable ride and feel. I haven't had this one long enough for any gremlins mechanically and the only gripes i have relates to the interior design - again. Firstly i went for the panoramic roof, well, don't bother, you would hardly notice it above you especially as it sits behind the drivers head, nice for the passengers though what little they do actually see out of it. Hmmm... not worth the option and cost. Yet again the power rear quarter windows have the operators buttons on the roof near the driver which doesn't exactly help the passengers in the very back if they want them open or closed! and thirdly the rear folding seats, looking at them from the tailgate, look very cheap and tacky, even though this was the leather ghia x option packed seats. I had the optional DVD entertainment screens added and where do you think they put the player? - yes under the front seat facing forward so you can't have your passengers changing a disc mid-journey. Doh! Apart from these, lovely, lovely car and i'd certainly recommend a Galaxy to anyone who likes a bit of space around them, and or, a big family!!
Lovely drive, very roomy, solid.
The wife has real trouble with the reverse parking even with the aid of the parking sensors, which seem hyper sensitive.

Galaxy 2.0tdci Ghia with optional X pack

I OWN A GALAXY DIESEL TDI 1.9 AND I RATE IT AS A VERY NICE CAR I HAD THE CAR ABOUT 15 MONTHS AND HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT AT ALL I HAVE HAD OTHER FORD CARS BEFORE AND NOT LIKED THEM THIS IS THE BEST ONE YOU CANT BEAT THEM
As MPVs go this one takes some beating. The early 1.9tdi engine was frugal, if a little lack lustre, The later engines have more pep without sacrificing economy. The cabin space for the rear passengers - this being a 7 seat vehicle is adequate with enough head and legroom for average sized males. whilst the extra visibilty gained from such a car is really appreciated by the younger passengers on those longer more tedious journeys. Overall a good compromise between space, refinement and comfort. A well packaged solution.

I don't have a galaxy but I work at a ford garage. A galaxy is the wreck of the year. It isnt worth te be a ford. Ford has mutch better cars than this iron garbage on wheels from volkswagen.

We drive a 2002 Galaxy, 1.9 TDI Ghia Auto. We covered 56K miles in almost 2 years and this car is excelent. It is big, good on fuel, and comfortable to drive for long distances. The car price is a high with different accessories that's a shame as I find it to be the main disadvantage of this car.
Owned for 2 years.
