i've had mine for 5 years and apart from a starter solenoid and a sprag clutch, it's been brilliant. i fitted the sprag myself so im pretty intimate with just about every nut and bolt. being 5'7" is no disadvantage on a trident, top heavy or not. the gearbox is all but redundant as it pulls hard in any gear and when the carbs are set up well it really goes. all in all i love my bike and wouldnt swap it.
I obtained this bike after passing a DAS course. It's comfortable, though I have yet to find a bike that is ideal for my 6'3" of height. The footrest position is less painful than the Suzuki 500s used for the DAS. Fuel consumption isn't great - about 40mpg on a 40 mile (total) commute - but it has excellent acceleration and handles well. There seem to be plenty of accessories and spares available. It's main problem is that it takes a long time to warm up in the cold, and the engine may die or deliver little power unless the choke is very carefully adjusted.
Apart from the head gasket blowing 3 times it was a great bike. The handling was great, you could throw her into curves where a 500 Kawa would not go. What she lacked on top speed she made up with handling.

Just bought a Trident 750 [1993/K] 50k miles. Been stored for over four years. After a good check over, new petrol and battery she fired up first time, sounds and drives marvelous, another fifty quid on bits and bobs made it A1. Far nicer to ride than my past jap "fours" solid heavy and grunty, but with terrific acceleration. Best bit- It cost £250

I have had a 1992 Trident 900 (registered as K in 1993) since 1997. The only thing I would disagree with is the quality of finish on the engine and minor parts e.g. pillion footrest hangers, which is chipped and flaking in places. Still I have used it for all this time as a daily commute in all weathers.
Purchased in Feb. 2001 for £2400, this is a "first bike" following a successful DAS training course. It's a '93 L reg which came with 11,000mls, history, and Triumph badged Givi luggage. It's used daily for commuting, gives 45-50 mpg, and has been totally reliable. It is a bit heavy in traffic, but you get used to it, and it certainly has "presence" on account of it's size. It's a naked bike with blistering acceleration, but sustained speeds over 80mph are exhausting. However, one or two up, it's very stable, and it corners well, allowing safe scratching on dry Sunday mornings. The six-speed box is a bit academic. There's so much torque, 5 speeds would have been sufficient. The build quality is very good, all paintwork is immaculate, with no sign of peeling or rust. AND it's British...................mostly.
