hey!!! My RMX has been exelent to me for 3years i love it but i was woundering can any of you RMX dirt chuckers our tell me how i can tell the model of my bike! Mine has a power band does yours i thought power bands ain't allowed on roads!
MODS FOR RMX-As written in Dirt Bike Magazine. 1.Fit FMF gnarly or similar pipe(more bottom end-25%improvement), you will have to re-jet, main jet should be a 172, the needle a 1468(in the third groove from the top), and the pilot jet a number 52. A secret to tuning is to use an RM needle 2.Fit a performance silencer. 3. Replace head gasket with RM high compression gasket(it's the same size). 4.Install a Splitfire sparkplug. 5.Remove plate in airbox or cut extra holes in airbox 6.Fit a Steahly flywheel weight to give better torque and smoother power. 7.Fit Boyesen Rad Valve or FMF torque reed valves. 8.Fit a Power Now carburettor insert for super crisp throttle response(voted product of the year 2003). 9.If you are tallish, fit an RM taller seat foam with 'CR high bend' style handlebars from Renthal for a perfect fit. 10. Fit a Unifilter or Twin Air air filter with proper air filter oil. 11.You can fit an I-cat to your spark plug lead but it is not cheap.12.If u want to go all the way you can have the ports done by a professional. The RMX is an awesome bike. You can make vast improvements just by changing your pipe.Even a stock RM pipe will fit and boost performance. You can get copies of old Dirt Bike magazines from motorcyclememories.com. PS let me know if you want to sell your RMX, I am looking for one. Cheers
I've recently bought a 1996 RMX250, which is great, but I'm struggling to find any technical info.
Does anyone know if the piston is single or twin ring? How closely based on the RM is it? Does anyone other than FMF do a pipe? Do you have to re-jet with an FMF pipe? Is 30-1 pre-mix correct?
I've trawled the net, but have so far found little to answer these questions. I'd be grateful for any info. Bloody good bike though - big improvement on my old CRM250.
i,ve just purchased a 1992 RMX 250 N.I need some parts ie:fork seals, oil tank cap, clutch lever & mount, rear indicators, fuel tap...struggling to find parts becouse its an import..can anyone help where do you lads get yours?
i love my 1997 RMX250. it has the sweetest power band of any 2-stroke i have ever ridden. it never ever bogs out. and the top end is eye-opening! i do some trail riding on my spare time when i'm not racing my YZ125 and the RMX is my very first choice. if you can find a bike with a smoother and more powerful powerband, you let me know;)
i just bought a 1994 rmx shes abit of a mess just wondered where the best place to look for spares are? any ideas folks cheers!

My 91 Rmx250 is an outstanding all round, race ready, reliable nibble handling bike! I can go tear up the tightest trails w/ her or race open against 500 or nail nac-nac's and heal clickers. It's just a all round ecellant dirtbike that I'm willing to put up against any 400 four stroke! I have Fmf torque reeds, fatty pipe, RM shorty silenc.,rebuilt forks, uni air filter, aceribs handguards, black RM plastics oversized tank, Dominator bars, dialed in rear shock with a fresh clutch, several steel sprockets (depending on the riding loca.)and a whole lot more! I wouldn't trade her in for the world.
