I HAVE A LANCIA THEMA TURBO 16V (205 HP)SINCE 1993 AND UP TO NOW IT HAS COVERED 195.OOO KM INCLUDING 2 ROUNDS OF EUROPE. I BOUGHT IT DIRECTLY FROM ROME, AND DROVE BACK TO GREECE. MAGNIFICENT STYLE, EXCELLENT AND HUGE INTERIOR, VERY WELL EQUIPPED AND VERY STIFF BODY. BUT WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT THE ENGINE...!? VERY VERY VERY FAST, THIS ACCELARATION IS MAKING ME CRAZY AND I ALWAYS WANT TO FEEL THIS ''KICK'' ON THE BACK LIKE ON AN AIRLINE JET WHILE TAKING OFF! SO FAR IT HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE, WITH ONLY THE SCHEDULED SERVICES BEING MADE, AND THE ONLY CHANGES ARE THE 205 WIDTH TYRES INSTEAD OF STANDARD 195 AND THE BILSTEIN SUSPENSION WHICH CHANGES COMPLETELY THE HANDLING OF THE CAR!!!!!IT BECOMES EVEN BETTER!!
I have owned Lancias for 13 years now and currently have 2 Themas. With the assistance of the Thema Consortium mentioned below this car makes an outstandingly good buy.
I have a combined mileage of 230,000+ miles on my 2 cars and they have proved to be reliable and durable cars that inspire great loyalty and confidence.
The crisp throttle response of the normally aspirated series 2 16v makes it an entertaining drive on twisty B-roads whilst the acceleration of the 8v Turbo can be unleashed to devastating effect on unsuspecting tailgate harassers.
I am sure that the 8 valve Turbo will in time be rated as a classic piece of engineering due to the incredible refinement that Lancia intoduced to turbocharging when most other manufacturers offered turbo engines with an all or nothing power delivery.
If you get the chance of a good one you will not be dissapointed.
My thema lx turbo '93 has 270.000 kms under her wheels and is still in fantastic condition. A rare combination of beauty, power and quality. Thanks Giugiaro, thanks Lancia.
After being a passenger in a Thema over several years, I bit the bullet and bought its smaller sibling the Dedra. I can't reccommend Lancia enough - they are different, stylish, very quick and fantastic value for money. Don't believe ALL the stories - mine was very reliable, it turned heads and gave a real pride of ownership feeling...

These are possibly the most underrated cars in the UK at the moment. They represent exceptional value for money giving the owner both luxury and performance that comes from Italian styling and engineering.
