This car (mx6) is awesome. I bought it for £1150 about 3 weeks ago and its a whole lotta car for the money. Likes a drink mind you, but makes up for it in comfort, looks, sex appeal, grunt, handling, performance etc etc. If any one knows the bhp of the 2.51 model, I would be graqteful if they could drop me a line at [Log in to view email] I would be grateful. Have a nice day.
On my second MX6 now (1996 model), whilst the parts may be expensive I am delighted with its performance and reliability. The car has over 90K miles on it & the only thing it has ever needed was a new clutch - excellent.
bought mazda mx6 from local mazda dealer with only 23,000 on clock(not bad for m reg).been on holiday to Yorkshire recently tackling 25% hills with no effort.Keep getting slaps off wife for accelarating so fast but foot hardly touches the pedal!Amazing performance smooth and powerful.no problems(touch wood),as of yet and has more than lived up to expectations.travelled several miles when in Yorkshire and didnt get out of car looking like I had severe arthritis!fuel consumption is less than I thought probably because of immaculate engine. It gets lots of looks and have not seen another in Great Yarmouth or surrounding area.Amount of space in boot comes of something as a suprise as much larger than you perceive. At present cant fault it for speed, reliabiity or performance.
Bought my MX6 a couple of months ago and love it. Used to own a 320i and thought that was quick. Was I wrong, this MX6 is the best car I have driven, it sticks to the road so well I scare myself going round bends at speeds that would have put the beemer in a ditch. For an unmodified car the power and response are awesome. Am putting a cold air intake and performance exhaust on soon as I am a greedy bastard
Had my P reg MX6 for 3 years now without any problems other than routine stuff like brake pads and exhaust, and I love it. Looks very sleek and purposeful. Get behind the wheel and it feels purposeful too. The engine has lovely power delivery. Happy to trickle along at low speed in high gear, tackles steep hills effortlessly, always feels eager, very entertaining to drive fast on A roads. Pop it down a gear or two and it comfortably storms past traffic in places where I didn't dare overtake in my old motor. Handling's pretty good too. Definitely has the grin factor.
Keep thinking I should sell it due to not having enough opportunities to drive, but can't bear to part with her.
Negatives: paint slightly prone to chipping; interior trim has a few squeaks; normal sized adults can't go long distance on the rear seats. A few design niggles around the cockpit, but nothing major. Obviously with a car like this you don't expect huge carrying capacity but I find it just about practical for the weekly supermarket run, bits of wood and bags of cement, and touring holidays for two.
great car but my son wrote it off been trying to put it back together for a year because its imported its so hard to find parts only need off side headlight and fog to complete j.spec if poss can any one help
I've recently bought a k reg mx6 with a full service history - since replacing the failing waterpump and hence the cam-belt, I've had no problems with it.
It's been about 2+ months since i bought it and i still find myself popping out for some open road in the middle of the night (i live in london - daylight = endless traffic). Still haven't lost any sprints either - which is suprising; as far as i know, it's totaly stock. I can't begin to say how clean the handling is - makes the bmw 325 from the same year feel sloppy...
My new toy will be ten 10 years of age next year, and it's still gets a lot of attention - it's the Angela Basset of coupes: Very attractive, and aging like a fine wine... With the recent spate of sunny weather, I've actualy got round to using the sunroof. It's the cherry on the cake. Not the fact that it has one - the fact that when it's open, it looks so freakin sexy! (Angela Basset in the final scenes of Strange Days ;)
Overall
a very sexy and reliable performer. I think i'll hold onto it for a while and mod it up a bit - cheap bits:- cold air intake, air filter upgrade, IAT switch, a few cosmetic interior bits and bobs and if i find one that feeds the intake properly and doesn't mutilate it's natural beauty, a racing hood.
If you want some cheap and reliable fun - go find a second gen MX6, they all come fully loaded - she won't dissapoint you. (unless you already own a 2k TVR Cerbera or something)
my 96 mx6 is the best their is and so reliable. i bought it bone stock and have two visonik 12 inch subs with a 1400 whatt amp and oh yeah get ready for this a greddy cat-back exhaust hollowed out cat and i welded a pipe inside it, hotshot headers wich is where all the power is becahse the stock headers have little cats on each side plus the normal one, cold air intake custome made it is almost touching the ground so it's sorta go a little ram air action goin on their. bosch platnum 4 spark plugs(very nice), and a short shifter which i am actually hopeing to use my friends grinder to make it a little shorter. email me with reviews of what i'v done so far next mod is an intercooler and eventually a t3\t4 hybrid turbo. I have had my 94' Mazda mx6 for about two years now, and I am still unsure if I am satisfied with the proformance of my car. I have had many problems with its engine, and brake systems. It seems to be very hard on it's brakes. Also the parts are too exspensive for it's factory profomance. My transmission light keeps coming on after repeaded inspections. For being a v6 and such a light vehicle, it does not have the tork that it should. I would never purchase another mx6 again, but I would purchase another mazda!!

An incredibly fun filled car, with loads of torque and phenomenal amounts of power, Leather interior, a push of a button and the aircon chills the air to stop that bead of sweat that is created under that good acceleration. Shame I have to sell it as I am moving abroad

This is the best sports car I have ever owned and is certainly the best looking. A real understated sports tourer, the MX6 combines torque and style in about equal measures. The car really comes alive in second gear above 4000rpm and hurtles you towards the horizon at a frightening speed, 60 comes up in a little over 7 seconds. This car is also very comfortable, I got out the car from a recent 300 mile journey and felt like I wanted to do it all again. And that is ultimately this cars big secret, the grin factor. Both in owning it and driving it, but more importantly you'll be lauging all the way to the bank when you outperform other, more expensive, cars. Buy one, you won't be disappointed.
