This PC was supposed to wash away all the trouble I had with my G6-400. The P3 processor is supposed to be faster than the Celeron 400 but, sorry to say this, it isnt. Applications like Word and Photoshop take ages to open, the Startup folder takes even longer. The hard drive whirrs and buzzes like a saw and games performance is well below par. I have already had occasion to contact AOL, my Internet provider. They suggest that the Startup takes so long because my File Allocation Tables are messed up. I defrag WEEKLY, I run Norton almost daily and still I get freeze ups and internet drop outs. Gateway will undoubtedly blame the Internet itself, unreliable, slow etc. I accept that, but what is more annoying is waiting an eternity for a simple letter to be filed away when I am using Word.
The P3 simply does not seem to have the capacity to deal with large applications. I could list countless other problems but to what end. After all I would not want another Gateway after my experiences over the last two years.
