I bought my Spinner in the Summer of 2008 it needed some updating and as ever took me much more time than expected, finally launched her in Aug 09 with some work still to do. Nice boat to handle a litte light on the helm but overall I am very happy a lot of boat for the size and price. Plywood decks tend to leak a little but at leaset they are easy to fix.
Would be very happy to chat to anyone else interested in Spinners. Richie I look at Yarn Spinner, Deacons had two for sale at the time, I chose the other one!

Good beam, strong, good accomodation for size.
Plywood deck/coachroof.

I've owned my yacht 14 years. She is a fin keel (4'9" draft) but I still sail her single handed round the East Coast.

With low freeboard and a powerful rig, she is fast and a delight to sail.

My 1976 version was a Mike Henderson design and built in Bridport. I have the Builders Certificate.

I think the cockpit and transom is neater on my version than the earlier ones i've seen.....

I'm on my 2nd Yanmar 1GM10 which pushes her along at 6.5 knots in slack water. That can be 10 knots over the ground in East Coast rivers!

She handles well in reverse and is easy to park.

As a mid 70's cruiser/racer, she is not a Gin Palace with space sometimes tight below, especially if the 6 single berths are all occupied! Headroom is limited for anyone taller than me (5'9").

Her lines attract many comments though.. All favourable so far!

For 2010, I'm in the process of fitting lazy-jacks, to hopefully make life easier at my age....

Single handed sailing is not difficult as I use a tiller mounted self steering when I need to dive down below.

My little yacht has struggled manfully in force 8's (I gave up before she did) and amongst other places, has taken me to Belgium and Holland, through the whole canal system from Vlissingen to Ijmuiden via Amsterdam.

A tough and pretty little yacht. Fast and easy to handle.
Headroom is limited.

Hi Rich, I own a newbridge spinner called Great Bear, she's a really great boat, very easy to sail single handed. Apparently these boats were designed for racing back in the day. I fell in love with this boat because it has a very large cockpit for its size, and i can service the perkins engine very easily just by removing the engine box in two seconds and having access all around it. The only couple of things i have trouble with is headroom and not much space for a cosy double bed. Also the cockpit slopes downwards towards the back which feels a bit strange after you've experianced sailing on yachts with straight and level cockpits, but ah well, its not a big issue really. This pic was taken when i had her taken out the water for a survey when she was up for sale.

Very easy and safe to sail, Awsome engine room access.
Headroom, cockpit slopes downwards to the back.
