ITS THE BEST GAME EVER! I speak to from St. Tomasburg, capital of the Tomithian empire!I love being able to edit tribes and make your own map!its Brilliant! A real challenge and any P.C. owner should give this game a go whether you love or loathe staregy games! Graphics aren't great but they don't have to be! Buy this game and your family won't see you for a week or three! 11\10!
I think Civilisation is a very good game and vaery edictive you just keep playing it more and more for awhile any way then you get sick of it but you can then try different time periods for the game. Consisting of Science Fiction, Fantasy and this time also there are scenarios you can play. So the game has a lot of game hours but the graphics are well not to shabby... But anyway i dont think graphics matter as much you want detail and this game well is simply like a encyclopedia (did i spell that right) so overall i give it 8/10.
Ever wondered what it would be like to rule the world? If so then this is the game for you!
A quick overview. You take charge of a band of settlers in 4000 B.C. and from these humble beginnings you have to expand your empire to one capable of building a spaceship to colonise another planet. Alternatively you could just wipe out all other civilisations to rule the world! This however is harder than it seems.
So you have your settlers. Now what? Well first of all, a city is required. Cities form the cornerstone of your empire and achieving either of the two goals is nigh on impossible without a strong network of cities. Once your first city is built you can then build either new units or city improvements. These options are fairly limited to begin with but increase as you discover new technologies. One unit you can build right from the beginning is another band of settlers, allowing you to then build another city.
After establishing a few cities, contact will usually be made with the other rival civilisations. Diplomacy forms a strong part of the game and can easily get you into hot water if you aren't careful! It is often prudent to make peace with stronger neighbours whilst conquering the lesser nations. If however you have made peace with another civilisation only to realise that you would like them out of the way you will suffer diplomatic penalties as people treat you as untrustworthy.
Another feature of the game is the ability to change your government type. At the start of the game the only government available is Despotism. As you progress through the game, more types become available. These range from Monarchy right through to Democracy. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages and it is up to you to find one that suits your style of play.
So that, in a large nutshell is what it is all about. Add to all of this the ability to play some predefined scenarios such as World War 2 and even design your own you end up with a very good game indeed. The graphics may not be up to scratch but this isn't about Gourad lighting effects or some other funky thing that your VooDoo 10 card can do. No, this is about playability and addictiveness and this has both in abundance. It is very easy for whole evenings or weekends to disappear whilst playing Civ 2 and that is the best compliment I can pay it!!
Min spec. If your PC can't run this game then buy a Playstation!!!
