Bought mine on Ebay for £170 this summer with over 80,000 on the clock. Took another £200 to get it through the MOT and roadworthy. Since then It has towed a trailer for a 600 mile camping holiday and hacked the full length of the M4 several times. The only think on it that doesn't work is the auto aerial. Does about 30mpg.
Huge boot, CD Changer, Power steering, comfortable.
Had car for 7 years, ABS wiring loom failed at top left strut after 70k, but repaired myself for nothing. Cambelt snapped 16k after change, because local garage had not replaced water pump, after charging & promising they had !!! (I should sue them!) GM air con failed after 4 years (dont they all) despite top ups. One or two annoying oil leaks, and needs new ignition lead set every couple of years. Otherwise still running fine and fairly pleased. The grundig/vauxhall radio buttons are fairly crap, again common weakness of the sc303 unit, just look at ebay ! But then it has lasted 7 years use.
i was given this car when my parents bought a newer modle(leganza)and im impressed. this is my first car so the actual size of it scared me a little but since i have been driving it i have found it to to be very easy to drive. my parents originally bought it for £4000(new price of about £12000) with only 19,000 on the clock and since then it has only had a new waterpump (fitted under warrenty)the gearing on it is fantastic for city driveing as it pull really well in 1st through to 4th and on the motorways it can keep pace well even with out trying ive only got it to do 95 but there is still a lot of grunt to go also the insurace is reasonable for such a big car (group 7, it cost me around £1500 TPFT as a fist time driver) overall a good first/second car if you ar willing to drop the prestige to save Alot of money
Very spacious and has never let us down. Slight irritations with interior trims and light and alarms, but highly underated and nobody has tried breaking into it! Daewoo service very good also. Will keep it for as long as we can.
My other car is a Caterham 7 with 180 bhp so I drive the Espero with a relaxed frame of mind. Handling leaves something to be desired... I'll leave it at that but it does grip if pushed. Just get your aim and lines right as mid corner changes are not desirable. I bought it at an auction as the cheapest thing there with aircon, 3 years ago. Someone took the £8K depreciation, not me! The air con and radio did not work but the 3 yr transferable warranty sorted that at zero cost as well as a leaking front shock. The boot did leak but I fixed that. The seam is the wrong way around behind the rear bumper and needed sorting. It's been fine ever since. Since then we have done 25000 miles and it has cost only a new set of plug leads and a dizzy cap. It is roomy, more rear leg room and boot space than a Saab 9000! I get 30 mpg.
I've owned an Espero for nearly 3 years. It was bought as a "value for money" car with lots of space and equipment. Its lived up to this well. Its certainly is not the most exciting thing to drive, has zero street cred but it has been totally reliable, very cheap to run and service. It doesnt owe me anything and I will be sad to see it go.

I have my espero for 4 years now. Bought it with 68000 km and have now 211000km. I still drives very well and had only a problem with the radiator for the airco. but that was repaired under warranty. I think it is a very good car with low price.

It is an excellent car for budget boy-racers and it looks fast once a spoiler is added to its end. It handles and drives like a true sports sedan.

My 96 1.8CD Espero drove till now 200000 Km. Till now the only maintenance costs were oilchages every 5000Km and the tail piece for the exhaust. This is my 5th car and by far the one i am the most satisfied off. The others are Mitsubishi Galant 2.3 TD, a Nissan Primera 2.0D, Renault Clio 1.6, Renault Megane 1.6Aut and an Audi 100. Till now it is the only car that dind't require expensive parts. All the others had at least for 1000Euro spare parts before they reached the 100000Km cap...
I have run this car for 100k of my own miles (108k in total) and it has only cost me £300 in parts in that time, outside usual serivce and consumables like oil etc.

Basically it is a very good car. I think Daewoo are very unfairly represented by the Media/ members of the public who have no idea!
