Just moved to Thailand from the UK were i very reluctently had to sell my Triumph Speed Triple, after a lot of thought of what bike i could buy that would cheer me up after my loss someone told me to have a go on a CRM 250. Never been on a 2 stroke and only had a couple of goes on my mates XR 660 and have so say that this machine brought my biking grin back again, so i bourght one the next day. If you want something with sphincter tightning acceleration this is the one for you. I am now one very happy camper.
Out of the 30 bikes I have owned, this is the best-fast, streetable, off-road, wheelies. Nobody else in Los Angeles has one. I could make bank if I imported some.
owned one for a year now after a number of 4 strokes. it still exites me.Awesome on the mud loads of traction, nutty on the road.It does upset some road users they think its a crosser.I dont plan on selling mine.
Pretty good all round bike both on and offroad. Standard gearing way to high for serious offroading. Try 13, 45, although this obviously limits top speed. Fuel consumption not to good, all my mates use XR's and I get thru heaps more juice. Handles quite well offroad but when compared to "real" enduro machines, like KTM 250 feels a bit "sloppy" and overweight. Reliabilty OK, but needed a new rectifier @ 12,000kms. Living in Chiang Mai, Thailand parts can be a problem locally but 2 weeks ex Japan and few parts such as air filter element/ front pads can be swapped from XR.
Using one in Cambodia where there ain't no roads, much better to throw around than an XR Baja but gotta use good fuel which sometimes gets scarce!loads of fun but spares not so easy to find.Being a Honda the Khmers can (almost) fix it anywhere.
love the bike even if it a bit heavy exellent 4 lanes and road only really feel sus probs when racing or big jumps biggest prob 4 me getting right gaering everyone says 13;45 but this give good trial but not 4 enduro i use 13;43 much better spread but struggle on big hills at low speed
I live in Dubai and I have an XR 400 and a CRM 250, I prefer the 250. It is so versitile it goes just as well on road as it does off road. It is a good cruiser on road because of the 6th gear and it is a scream in the desert, and it never lets me down, brilliant bike.
A good machine to own although it drinks alot of petrol (25-30miles per galon.reliability is good mine has never let me down. a good addition is a fmf front an rear pipe, this makes the mid-range better and gives it a nice mx sound. I have never taken mine off-road as i use it for genral runing around.at the moment i am waiting for a set of suppermoto wheels to turn up.should be intresting.
Great machine for on and off-road capers! A few problems with starting early on sorted out by re-jetting and running a hotter plug. Also worthy of replacement bars (Renthall) and lower gearing and decent chain set.
Does the trick with the Mugen ignition and pipe, but is fast enough even without. Highly recommended for the clubman and trailee green laner alike. A winning machine..........
The bike is sick good around even at the moto track but you have fix the bad case of soft shocks and the hight gearing also the crap bars and you will have a kick ass bike
This bike is awesome!!! The power is insande, excellent bottom end, with a very healthly mid-range. Buy the lowest mileage one you can afford as reliablity has been questioned with mine. Mental accleration and tops out just under a ton. I really do have to battle hard to keep the front wheel on the deck! Really does pull you along its so powerful. Buy one today.
After years of track days and road riding owning a CRM has opened up a whole new world of possibilities - drifting out the back, jumps, green laning etc. If any other bike offers this much fun for so little cash I'd like to see it. Wikid bike. Jim, Rutland
forget speed traps, rocketing insurance premiums, high maintenance costs, get out of the towns & cities and ride in the open countryside, hundreds of miles of legal green lanes, no other form of motorcycling compares with this for enjoyment and value for money!!!! honda crm250 ideal machine

I've owned my 'AR for 4 years now and it gets used more than my road bike. it commutes, green lanes and does anything I've ever asked it to. I now have a set of super moto wheels & tyres and it transformed on road as much as a set of enduro tyres did off road. I don't ever want to be without it!
