I've had two - the "original" one (which I'm now selling) and the later, "curvey" one. Of the two, the first (E Reg) is probably the better because so much of it is non-rusting plastic.
44mpg but still sprightly acceleration if you need it. Very reliable.
Have own two mk1 CRXs, the 1500 12-valve actually when nearly as good as the DOHC 1600, though the DOHC is definatly the one to go for. Both are very reliable and economical. My high mileage and much abused 1.5 whent for nearly a year with a smokey engine, slipping clutch, clicking CVs, and brocken syncro-mesh before it finally broke. The mk1s can't easily be fitted with the Honda's VTEC engine sadly - as the mk1 CRX's light weight and a VTEC would make one hell of a slingshot if you can afford the mounting kit. While the handling is good I have to admit my old Mazda 323 XGi (a slightly sporty model) was much more predictable and chuckable.

Currently own a mk1 with 198k on the clock. It still goes like stink and surprises everyone who has a go in it. It will still pull 135mph (on trackdays of course!!) and does a genuine 120mph in 4th gear
