Now reading 128000 on the clock and still going strong!
A few niggling little problems though. The heater isn't working properly. I think the air control flap is stuck. Just what I need on these cold winter mornings! And the rear screen demister still refuses to work.
Even with these couple of things, I still think the world of this car. I've had it 3 years on and I have decided it's time to go. I tow a caravan and now I've got a Ssangyong Korando 2.9 GLS. It's a bit of a jump, but I will miss my old Laguna!
My Renault Laguna Monaco 3.0ltr-Car purchased at 5000m in 2000-No troubles at all-only expense-yearly service and new tyres-milage to date 70000-almost the perfect car. Comfortable and quick-ideal for long trips.

Laguna monaco 3ltr
Owned for more than 5 years.
I have owned my 1998 Laguna 2.0 RT for over a year now. I only paid £150 for the car as it had no tax. Since buying the car I have had difficulty with the clutch. It is a nightmare to use! Pulling away from a standstill is tricky, although as soon as the car is on the move it is a pleasure to use. The heater only works on the highest setting, and it isn't very warm. The immobiliser is a pain. I have to lock and then unlock the car with the key fob before I can start the car. Despite having the steering components checked several times the car devours tyres! Other than the slight problems the car performs well. It is surprisingly good on fuel; although I will drive the car around at 35mph in 5th gear with no problems. The engine is one of the torquiest engines I have experienced. I use the car to tow regularly and it amazes me how well the car performs each time. The brakes are very good. There is a bit of travel in the pedal but the brakes bite well when you need them to. The handling of the car is surprisingly good too! I have driven my Laguna on a race circuit a number of times (seriously - I have the pictures to prove it!) and it handles well for such a big car. I would recommend a Laguna; although check all the electrics work fine before parting with your cash. The insurance is quite high too - that could be because of the engine size? I have four years no claims, I am over 25 and married and the insurance is still shocking!
I bought my 1.8 RN estate at 55000 miles and sold it reluctantly at 82000.Problems were very poor heater and strap holding petrol tank broke. It was a lovely car to drive and despite being 96 model was a joy to own
I have only owned my Laguna since February this year and it is my first experience with Renault. My car is a 1.9DTi estate car and in the last three months i have replaced my fuel injector pipe three times where it has severed straight across the bottom of the pipes. If anyone has any ideas to why this is happening can you please let me know as my local Renault dealer is at a loss. The car is a V reg 1999 car. Also i have problems with my bonnet not closing correctly it looks like it is constantly open.Apart from those bad bits i cannot fault it for space and comfort and when it was working it was very economical .
i currently have an (x) reg. laguna monaco 2.016v.this is the absolute top of the range laguna which boasts just about everything a car can have including sat. nav. leather interior etc. having previously owned an (s)reg. 2.0 rti which was an excellent car i decided to go for the top model and i was not disappointed! even though it has the same size engine as my previous one it has a bit more go in it..reliability on both of them has been fantastic. been all over britain and france a few times and she still goes great . would recommend to anyone..... ps. i like the idea of the visual oil level when you start up .. fantastic car!
My Laguna has now done 122,000 miles. Had it serviced at 120K, and the mechanic said that there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. It sailed through it's last 2 MOT's with only a blown bulb to worry about!
We are now pulling a 1020kg caravan with it. Took it from Devon to Lowestoft, and back without any problems at all.
I cannot praise this car enough. The only thing to go wrong on the car is the rear screen demister. The light on the dashboard works, but the screen doesn't get hot. I've bypassed the plug socket in the boot, but still no joy. If you know how to solve this problem, let me know!!
just wondering if there are any laguna's with a boot like a saloon i've never seen one and would like to know what they look like and do they have renault laguna's in canada as there are lot's of french people there
well i am 26 years old and when i first saw the laguna i just had to have one. well i do now, and what a fantastic car mine is a 1996 2.0L RT automatic with spoiler. it looks sporty, smart and it still has it's modern look on the road, unlike fords which look out of date after a few years. anyway i find the laguna very confortable and spaceous inside and it handles very well. at the momoent i'm in love with it but i am always looking out for the R reg. 2.0L automatic laugna which is the last model with the black rear indicaters and i would like a few more extra's with it but it must never have a tow bar on it. unless someone can tell me how i can modify my laguna without spoiling it from ricky p.s. i can drive manaul's but i perfer driving automatics call me lazy if you like but it is my choice LOL
Watch out for the 50p boot lock on the laguna 2 series its a blue peter design. The tyre valves are also very expensive (Tip buy from dealer but get a tyre dealer to fit them. save £60).
I have had my Renault Laguna for 12 months now and I have never had any major problems with the car yet. I had a small problem with a joint that was creaking when pulling away but this was solved with a little grease. Mine is a 2.0 RT 1998 (50000 miles now) and it is proberly the most comfortable car I have ever driven, especially on motorways. I thrash it everywhere I go and I have had 130mph out of it (not bad for a big car) and it holds it own pulling away. Around town I find it a bit thirsty on petrol but on the motorway I get over 400 miles out of the tank. I would recommend this car to people especially with kids as there is loads of room inside and if you get one with a spoiler it adds a nice sporty look.
I drive a 2003 laguna2 estate nice, but nothing like the the old laguna. 5 months and 15000 miles later its showing signs of poor build quality and as for the Key/card I'm on my 3rd and when you try to accelarate say to pull out in front of a slow moving lorry at a roundabout for example make sure you are revving hard because my one has a tendancy to die just at the crucial moment.very different handling from this version than the mark1.
Just a quick update about my 97 1.8 RT. 113,000 on the clock now, been everywhere in the UK, and most of northern europe in the thing and I still can't kill it! Decided to fit a towbar and pull a 950kg caravan to try and destroy that gutsy little engine, and the car still goes like stink! Starts first time, every time. I would recommend one of these superb cars to anyone. It might be for sale soon, only so we can get a bigger caravan, so watch this space.
I own a 2002 Laguna Estate 1.8 Dynamique and I am very happy with it. I have no problems so far. It's powerful (although a bit more torque in the low revs would be appreciated), good looking (the best looking estate of its class in my opinion), roomy and a pleasure to drive. Excellent stability and grip. The brakes are fantastic. The cabin space is the best in its class and the seats are far more comfortable that e.g. the Passat's. I have three child seats in the back seat so I've measured the back seat width in various models and Laguna is by far the widest (ever from Mondeo). Boot space on the other hand is not the best in the class (Octavia Combi is the top)

I've owned my S reg Laguna 1.8 RT Sport since March 2002 and rate it as one of the best cars I have ever owned. It never fails to start and is very comfortable to drive. I only have two drawbacks. 1. My wife is always driving it (she scares me) 2. the remote central locking has stopped working. Other than that, it is a top quality car!
the best part about this car is the spacious and convienient interior. with it's modern computer systems and massive amounts of head and leg room, i highly recommend the laguna as a family car with the power you don't want to give up.
Laguna 2.0RT estate 130,000 miles and still going strong, only a bonnet cable, rear shox, centre and back box and both ignition modules have let me down in the last 3 years. Its been a good workhorse carrying six of us ,performance is fair to good except for hills where second gear is needed where my previous car a sierra 4x4 would take them in 4th, economical on a run ,up the hills a bit thirsty, handling very good ,especially with my 17" toora alloys with 205/40 tyres, comfort is fantastic .the interior is nice but the trim scratches easily...all in all a very good car and at the prices there going for now a good buy...
