i have owned my honda x8rs 2003 now for 6months i have found it very good i get 52mph with a ginanelli racing exhaust and 6.3 gram rollers and a derestricted cdi what i got done for a tneer, hoping to get an unlimited cdi next.
ive had my honda x8rs for about 2 months now and i have derestricted the variator myself and the exhaust but does anyone know how to derestricted the cdi
ive had my honda x8r-s for a few months , and i brought it for £300 of my mate, i started riding it quit alot , but when my cylinder went i realised how much was rong with it , first of all it didnt have a cowl to cool the cylinder down so i brought a new cylinder, piston, piston rings, and a lot more adding up to about £170, ive put all my new parts on but it doesnt seem like it wants to go ?i had a polini 50cc sport kit on it before and i think it might have something to do with it .... any ideas?
Hi, ive had my x8r-x for around 6 months now. and its done me proud (apart from a carberetta problem). when buyign it only had the CDI deresticted (sent off to x8r-tuning . co . uk for 13 quid!) and does 40 downhill. for those of you who have the stock honda exhaust and are stuck at 40 i am experiencing the same issue. The CDI is allowing the revs to be higher but the exhaust stops the bike accellerating at 40. (this happens because the exhaust limits output - when downhill, at 39 my bike begins to "cough" and pull back as the exhaust does not "approve" of the output). I have just ordered a leovince zx exhaust which should prevent this and i hope ill be goes 45-50 downhill. If anyone have fitted an aftermaket exhaust after havign the same performance as i am currently, what speed did you get after the new exhaust? Also, does anyone have advice on fitting a new variator and where to take it/can i do it myself?!
Cheers!
A big scooter which handles nicely, sounds beautiful and looks amazing, when falling over on its side only the indicator and lower panel is exposed to the ground =P
hard to get parts and 3 things to derestict!

hi have owned my scooter for several months now but i am sick to death of the low speed and accelaration due to the scooter being restricted . I believe from researching de-restricting a honda xr8x that i need to do 3 things: the cdi unit; variator and exhaust. I have a zx sports exhaust fitted but the scooter is stil extremely slow. Can anyone please inform me in detail on how to de-restrict the cdi rev counter, variator and whether or not i need to do anything to my exhaust???. plzplzplzplzplzplzplz help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! email me on [Log in to view email]
I have a 51 plate x8r adn bought it for 180 quid, i thought this was a bargain, i have been reading alot of comments and alot of them are a load of bo***x, to derestrict the bike first you have to change the cdi, i put a race cdi in this took me to 40, also i derestricted the exhaust myself by getting a 20mm hole saw on my drill and drilling out the cone in the exhaust, next i changed the variator and rollers this hardly made any difference, so the next thing do do is put and oversized pulley and new kevlar belt,
i have had my x8r for 1 year now and like everyone else found it slow. but i put a gianelli racin exhaust on a new kevlar drive belt and some 4 gram rollers this icreased its speed from 35-50. i am also soon gettin a 21mm carb making it a 70 getting a racing cdi unit and getting a gear up kit this should take the bike up to almost 75!
hey peoplei have a 98 x8rs mines currently doin 55 mph you might find this unbelievable but thats how fast its goin?? im quite amazed as i am dissapointed wid this speed?? but after reading u guys comments here i guess im quite lucky to have a speeedy litlle thing.
does anyone have any spares that they cam sell to me?? i need a fuel cap (original), front panels, and rh side rear panel??
ive brought my honda x8r s restricted, so i derestricted the exhaust and the variator and got the cdi done and it done 40 on the flat and 40 down hill because it still had a rev limiter in the cdi, so i got a new race cdi and now it still does 40-42 on the flat but it now does 50+ easy down hill does any 1 know why its so bad on the flat??? please help jon
