By far the best exec car I've driven and I've had a scorpio, 2 carltons, 2 senators, a carina E exec and a camry. My xedos 9 looks good and has so far been as reliable as my daughters love for me!
Fuel consumption is not brilliant but it's miles better than the 3 litre senators and camry that I had. I must also say that I don't like the fact that the steering wheel doesn't adjust for high. What on earth was Mazda thinking of when they made that design decision?!
Other than this my fern green 1998 version, which has lowered suspensions and 17" wheels gets me so many looks that I've even had Merc drivers telling me I've got a nice car!
I guess my only truely negative comment on this great car, is that if you buy one, you better really love it cos unless you've got loads of money to buy another one whenever you want to (which if you are like me is once a year!), you'll be keeping your xedos 9 for a long time! You just can't sell it! People just do not know what it is!! This is my 2nd xedos 9 and I eventually had to p/x the 1st one I had for the one I have now cos I just couldn't sell it privately and this was in spite of the fact that the car had fsh and was in immaculate condition. So be warned, make sure you really really like this car before you buy, cos unless you're really lucky, you'll be keeping it for a very long time!!!!
Fuel conumption on the 2.5 poor, not the most exiting drive compared with, say, BMW 525i.
Makes an excellent used buy as depreciation is massive in esrly years. e.g. I bought a 5 year old SE with 100k miles for £5000. It has given me no problems over the next 30k miles in 8 months.
Srvicing costs at Mazda main dealer seem reasonable even if not the most efficient staff
